smoking cessation

Smoking is a self-medicating habit used to relieve physical and mental stress.  The deep breath achieved by taking a drag of a cigarette is the same breath practiced in yoga and meditation. It is called a Diaphragmatic Breath and it's used to quiet the physical body and calm the conscious mind.  Deep breathing is a good thing.  Inhaling deadly toxins into your body while you breathe, however, is not.

How does this addiction start?  Well, the majority of smokers started smoking at an early age for adolescent reasons such as "looking cool, being part of the crowd or rebelling".  Unfortunately, your subconscious mind soon recognized that the deep breathing of a drag triggered relaxation, and thus began sending messages to the conscious mind to smoke whenever it felt threatened by the symptoms of stress.  Thus, the smoking habit was born.

Fortunately, the subconscious is always learning, so with the proper training any habit can be reprogrammed with 21-30 days.

The Smoking Cessation Program is a two-session program that includes the following:

    • An explanation of the mechanics of stress plus tools and techniques to control it.
    • Instruction on proper breathing to reduce and control stress.
    • Worksheets to identify stress levels and smoking cues.
    • Hypnosis for relaxation, ego-strengthening and habit control.
    • Reinforcement CDs of each session to anchor suggestions and permanently change behavior.
